It's no secret that low-level software development (actual coding) is increasingly being performed outside the US, and in particular in India. What's not as well understood is how (given the difference in time zone, differences in culture, and other differences) this kind of highly distributed development can be made to actually work. A clear recipe for disaster is to throw half-understood requirements over the wall and expect to get something back in 6-9 months which resembles a solution.
